Big Data: A problem solver for the future
Big Data has been around about half of my life. Being born on the nineties, I became a witness on how quickly technology evolved right in front of our eyes. This taught me to be an early adopter of it. Sometimes, whenever I have some free time available, I tend to look at Google trends to figure out what people are getting into around the area that I live at.
Besides this trend following tech hobby, one of the activities that Big Data fits most into my life is mobile banking. Being a former active duty military, I was bouncing around different countries all over the world. This means that to me, it was extremely important to have a reliable and a secure bank that I can access from anywhere.
We need to embrace it
I must say that I am definitely a person that learned to embrace the benefits that Big Data can bring to the table. Needless to say, at the beginning, I was kind of skeptical when it came to my personal information being stored in a server somewhere. Many companies do this because it helps them anticipate trends and get prepared to meet market demand.
We all have our doubts at the beginning, but I think what I have to do is research before we make a decision. It’s all about being informed and making technology work in your favor. This month, I would mark 5 years since I have been making business in a bank that does not have a physical branch located in my country. I do everything from my phone, including making deposits and utilizing Apple Pay to order merchandise online. Ten years ago, I would not even think that would be possible.
